Our special events...

We aren't just about good beer, great wines and good food; through the year we have regular Special Events and raise money for local charities.

February to May; The Kings Arms Quiz (held annually since 1982) runs every Monday evening from about 8.30pm. Each week is hosted by a different quizmaster, who is usually a player on other nights, so questions will range from erudite through current affairs, pop culture and sport to the frankly eccentric or bizarre. (In 2009 one quizmaster had 'Guess the Flavour' of a selection of unmarked potato crisps!).
The Grand Final and Prize Giving is usually during the first week of May.

August Bank Holiday Weekend; The King's Arms Ale and Curry Festival started as our 10th Anniversary celebration in 1991, with a pig roast and a few extra beers over our usual selection. We now have a regular event featuring winning beers from the Great British Beer Festival, real Tandoori Cooking from our own Tandoori oven by Tring's Jubraj Restaurant, and live music from local bands.

October; Our Cider & Apple Event is part of Tring's annual Apple Fayre, held to mark the new season's apple harvest. We have traditional ciders, an apple-themed menu and (usually) Morris dancers. Help yourself to our own apples from the baskets in the bar!

December; The King's Arms Christmas Panto Party has been held since we opened. Started by Dave Blake and Kerr Hill, it now features an impromptu panto (sometimes traditional but usually modern) and 'The Poem' recording the year's deeds and misdeeds. Both are written, hosted and performed by the regulars. We end the evening with carol singing, led by Tim Amsden at the piano.
